There is only remaining member of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the pyramids of Giza, Egypt. Their remarkability is often lost on people of the modern era, who see their simple shapes and colors as unremarkable and uninteresting. What they don't understand, what they fail to marvel at is the understanding of the effort put forth to build such a wonder. Sure, today, with modern technology and machines, a structure like Khufu's pyramid could be built better and quicker, but the real construction of the mammoth pyramid took over 20 years. That means that if construction had begun on my first birthday, it would have finished last Wednesday. The lengths of the four sides are within 58 millimeters of each other, and this was created over four thousand years ago. I think this wonder is just amazing, and I would love to go and explore this great feat of architecture.
